Thought I’d share with you one of my favourite pieces of fitness tech at the moment – the Garmin Vivoactive GPS Smart Watch If your were thinking of buying the Apple Watch primarily for it’s health and fitness features, then I’d encourage you to take a look at the Vivoactive.  I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Here are some of the features:

  • Ultra-thin GPS smart watch with sunlight-readable, high-resolution colour touchscreen display
  • Built-in running, cycling, golf, swimming and activity tracking apps to monitor your progress even when away from your phone
  • Pairs with your smartphone to gently vibrate and display alerts for incoming calls, calendar items, emails and texts plus notifications from social media and other mobile apps
  • Free downloads for customisable watch faces, stats widgets and apps from Connect IQ, Garmin’s 3rd-party app developer site
  • Rechargeable battery lasts up to 3 weeks in watch/activity tracking mode or 10 hours using GPS

Through Connect IQ, you can add 3rd-party apps.  You can also find a variety of watch faces.  This is my favourite:

Speaking of style, I think the Vivoactive is pretty stylish.  I like the square and it’s also ultra-slim:

There’s also an app, called Garmin Connect, that  you can use to see the bigger picture.  You can also track your stats online and connect with other Garmin users to encourage each other in your pursuit of the #FitnessLife.

In addition to all of the fitness tracking features, the Vivoactive will also alert you of incoming calls, emails, texts, tweets, Facebook posts, and other social media apps that push notifications to your phone.

My final verdict is that the Garmin Vivoactive is a superb GPS Smart Watch. It does everything that I want it to do  and at £129, the price is right.
